CONGO INCREASES PRICE OF PETROLEUM PRODUCTS

Image
The Congolese government, through the Ministry of Economy, has increased the prices of  petroleum products. This comes a day after the country experienced fuel shortage in major cities,  with long queues at petrol stations visible across the Capital Kinshasa. The Democratic Republic of Congo imports all of its refined petroleum products, while exporting 25000 barrels of crud oil per day.  The country's state owned petrol company, Societe Congo-Italienne de Raffinage (SOCIR), last produced refined petroleum products in 1998, before its partnership with Italian company Eni's came to an end.  The new  petroleum prices are different in each supply Zone. As the Congolese currency (fc)trades at 2,014 to the  USD, consumers in the West Zone(including Kinshasa) will pay the following:  Petrol: 2195fc/lt Diesel: 2185fc/lt Oil:1800fc/lt. East Zone - Petrol:2695fc/lt. Diesel:2600fc/It. Oil: 2150fc/lt South Zone-  Petrol: 2695fc/lt. Diesel:2690fc/lt Oil: 2250fc/lt
